Photographer PLUS StudentThe LIQUID LENSE U/W Photographer PLUS Course is a 4-day course covering all the skills you need to become a professional underwater photographer.

Complete the Underwater Photographer certification, then spend a further day on the boat with a camera and one of our experienced instructors. Use this extra day to concentrate on any area of underwater photography of your choice. Try out an external strobe or refine your wide-angle skills, all under professional supervision and with instant feedback on your skills to help them improve.

After your dives you’ll spend plenty of time in our editing suite getting to grips with more advanced methods in image processing to make the most of your favorite underwater images.

What will I Learn during the U/W Photographer PLUS Course?

Taking Underwater PhotosThis course is designed for divers considering underwater photography as a serious hobby or career. It will provide you with an excellent grounding in underwater photography and lots of useful knowledge & techniques.

Combine this with plenty of hours in the water with expert tuition to give you a genuine head-start and some great images to take away with you.

Learn advanced editing and Photoshop techniques to correct many common underwater photography problems from basic cropping and contrast correction, to colour enhancement and backscatter removal.

Common LionfishLeave with a CD containing eye-catching photos, that will not only impress your family and friends, but you’ll be able to publish them on the web or even enter them into competitions.

The U/W Photographer PLUS Course is designed to be flexible.

Typical U/W Photographer PLUS Course Itinerary

Day 1: (1/2 day)
Experienced PhotographerMeet your instructor at our studio and begin to learn about the camera you’ll be using during the course. Receive a basic introduction to underwater photography. Get familiar with the camera on land, both in and out of its housing to learn its functions. Complete Day 1 by learning about the set-up and care of underwater camera housings and prepare for the next day out on the dive boat, by setting-up your own camera.

Day 2:
Small Yellow Cube BoxfishMeet at Scubafish Dive Centre at 7.45am for a tea or coffee, before making your way to the boat, where you can relax and enjoy breakfast.

Run through a quick refresher with your Instructor on how to use your camera & underwater housing and get a little practice in, on the boat. Cover key safety procedures, before making your first dive with one of our photography experts at your side.

During the lunchtime surface interval, we provide you with as much feedback as possible to make sure you get the most out of your next dive, giving you tips on buoyancy, composition and other techniques as well as discussing any problems you had with the camera and trying to solve them.

Digital Underwater PhotographerOn the second dive, we try different subjects and shot-types so you can collect more great photos of our many fascinating underwater residents.

We arrive back at the Dive Centre at around 2pm, to review your photos and you’ll receive tips and feedback to help make the most of your camera on the next day’s diving.

Day 3:
Make a further 2 dives out on the dive boat where we introduce further exercises & techniques to take your photography skills to the next level. At the end of the day, we’ll provide more feedback on your photos.

Day 4:
On the final diving day, make another two dives concentrating on any area of underwater photography of your choice. Try out an external strobe or refine your wide-angle skills. As usual we spend some time after the boat returns, looking over your photos and giving suggestions and practical advice.

Day 5: (1/2 day)
Forsters BarracudaSelect a few of your favourite images and spend some time perfecting them using computer editing software. Learn techniques to correct many common underwater photography problems from basic cropping and contrast correction, to colour enhancement and backscatter removal.

Leave with a CD containing eye-catching photos, that will not only impress your family and friends, but you’ll be able to publish them on the web or even enter them into competitions.

Who can participate in the U/W Photographer PLUS Course?

Ko Haa Lagoon Table CoralIf you’re aged 15+ and have already completed the PADI Open Water Course (or equivalent), in general good health and fitness, and are not suffering from a cold or ear infection, you should be eligible to enroll on the U/W Photographer PLUS LIQUID LENSE Course.

Courses start every day, at a time to suit you. You can book now, or come in to see see us while you’re on holiday in Ko Lanta. We offer free transfers to and from your resort in Ko Lanta for any of our dive courses or daily dive trips.

We teach all of our underwater photography & videography courses in small groups to ensure that you receive the attention that you deserve.
