The Scubafish philosophy is to offer extremely high standards of
customer-focused care and attention and to provide diving guests with
an unforgettable and unique experience – both above and below the water.
Scubafish in owned and personally run by Saffron Kiddy – an English Underwater Photographer and Videographer.
During an extended diving trip to Ko Phi Phi in 2002, Saffron decided to add an underwater dimension to her work as a television producer/director and founded Liquid Lense – Underwater Digital Photography and Videography Academy.
Liquid Lense was an immediate success and Saffron soon discovered that this was an area that people wanted to learn more about.
Over the next 3 years, as Saffron’s customer base grew, she found she had a special touch helping people overcome their anxieties about the underwater world. Using personal teaching methods, and allowing people to learn at their own pace has enabled many intrepid divers to, not only learn to dive, but to really enjoy the process.
“There are many people who would like to learn to dive, who do not believe thay can. With a little encouragement, lots of time and personal attention and plenty of laughter, I’ve found that there are very few people who do not find learning to dive a personally rewarding and hugely satisfying experience. When someone overcomes a personal fear and rises to a new challenge it can be an emotional, and often life-changing, experience all round! Learning to dive can literally add a new dimension to a person’s life.”
Wanting to keep her personal approach, but finding she was fast outgrowing Narima, Saffron was invited to set up a second PADI dive centre – Scubafish, based at Baan Laanta Resort & Spa in Kantiang Bay. Scubafish was awarded PADI 5 Star, Gold Palm, IDC status soon after and IDC Lanta was born.
During the summer of 2011, the prestigious 6-star Pimalai Resort & Spa approached Saffron, inviting her to add the unique combination of Scubafish diving services to the array of boutique facilities on offer to their guests.
Running a small and personal dive centre, that constantly strives exceeds its customers expectations, requires a surprisingly large range of skills. Saffron is closely supported by a close-knit staff-team that combine backgrounds in Marine Biology, Aeronautical Engineering, TV Production, Classical violin training and several combined decades of experience diving in the Andaman Sea. Saffron believes that it’s the range of skills and the dedication of the staff-team at Scubafish that bring a unique slant to their brand of scuba diving in Thailand.
Alongside running Scubafish, Saffron still enjoys diving and taking underwater photos. She regularly contributes to community projects around Ko Lanta, and, as well as running regular environmental awareness days at the local primary school, she has set up and contributes to several community websites, including kantiang-bay.com, lantaoldtown.com, lanta-klong-nin.com and scuba-dive-lanta.com. She is also researching ways to conserve Thailand’s reefs and preserve them for future generations to enjoy.
Based in the south of Ko Lanta, we are ideally located to offer
the shortest journey times to Lanta’s top dive sites.
We know your holiday time is precious and we want to
make sure you get the most out of it!
